Hey guys & gals... I have an outside statue here at the church that needs to be repainted ...I have most of the paint off with high pressure washer... got any ideas on using something to disolve leftover paint that will not 'penetrate' the cement and therefore not allowing the new paint to stick? Or do I even need to worry about that?

Why not just prime and paint? If the old paint wants to stay on, why not let it stay on and repaint over it?

X2. But if you want to get rid of the old paint try some muriatic acid, rinse it well and let it dry before repainting.

Thanks for the ideas, not sure what my 'painter' will want to do, they have suggested some of the same so will have to see which way we turn.

I'd say go with what the painter says. They should know if they do it for a living and they'll know what works best for them
