This isn't Allis related but I thought I'd ask you construction guru's a question. Around here in western Missouri the past few years I have noticed a lot of earthmoving contractors using pull type scrapers with 4wd articulated farm tractors instead of powered scrapers. Have any of you noticed this in your areas? What is the reason? Thanks.

Its the $$$$$ ... you cant believe what a new Double engine Scrapper or Bull Dozer cost these days... Using "Farm Equip" is a much cheaper way to move dirt.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Actually John Deere and CaseIH have a scraper spec for their articulated tractors.
Factory built for scraper duty.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

You can buy / sell a farm related tow tractor to a larger audience than a dedicated scraper.
You can separate a farm tractor from a scraper on a trailer for transport.
You can use a farm tractor for pulling a roller or disk or seeder after it has done scraper duty.
Most old scrapers end up in a row somewhere not being used vs having a chance at another life.
