I gots a '76 cadillac that the ac has not been updated to 134, and I only have 3 cans of r-12 left.I have some freeze-12, but have found out it's not so good. So....prolly due to be updated, needs a compressor(leaks). My limited research says the VIR system should be changed to a 'cycling'system cause the 134 and vir don't like each other....
So with warmer weather gettin here fast,, what would you do? Mind that the compressor needs replaced, so major surgery is gonna happen anyway

I guess the main question is, will the vir and 134 work? Or jus scrap it and go with the suggestions? I really like driving this rig,, but shore needs a working AC

I have had good experience with the propane based R12 replacement. I am guessing that is the freeze 12 you speak of. Since 134A is now being replaced with something newer, maybe skip ahead to the latest formula. But I know nothing about it, so maybe a no go all the way on it without great changes to parts.
