Hello all,
I recently had some performance issues with my D12. I thought that it may have been a stuck valve due to the shotgun sound during operation etc. After removing the valve cover and thumbing around, I noticed that one of my pushrods had broken. My question is, do i complete an engine overhaul since I will be removing the head anyways? Should I just try and replace the single rod, entire set? |

I'd try just getting a new push rod and replacing it, then adjusting the valves. Which valve was it on?

if my memory is correct if you remove the rocker arm and pull your rod out. question is is it broke or bent. heard of them getting bent but never heard of one breaking. let us know. norm

The important question is was the valve with the damaged pushrod functioning? If a valve is stuck open there should be little damage. If an exhaust valve is stuck closed there will be problems if the motor was operated for any period.
Check for stuck valves. |

That's why I asked which valve. Exhaust valves closest to the center, where the exhaust pipe brings in water, if the machine is left out in the weather, are most likely, unless it was not sitting level...
