Is it possible to get a 7040 down to 8500 lbs for tractor pulling with out major modifications? If it is what all would need to come off?

Thanks

According to Tractor Data, the original shipping weight for a 7040 was 11,700 to 17,380 lbs. I have never seen one under 10,000. It would have to go on one heck of a diet!

never seen one below 9500.... thats loosing 2500 + #,  lots of aluminum, welded hubs alum wheels... tiny front axle/ wheels,  no hyd pump (small pump on engine) and everything else off possible..

The rear tire size would make a difference. Aluminum rear wheels mandatory. Even at that, 8500 would be very difficult to make and then would it ever be able to be balanced ?? They have been down to 9500 before on the NTPA, but I don't think Brad Howells tractor was 9000??  Search the net for Brad Howells AC 7045 ??

My open station 7040 PD all stock, still fully equipped with 3pt/pto, with no weights weighs in at 11,000#. I just don't see how you could get one that light without MAJOR metal removal/machining. Talk to the gutless general guys, they have a 7030 chassis I think it is, pulling in a limited pro-stock class. Might even be 8500#.

I assumed it would be take a lot of dieting to get it down there but figured i would ask the experts.

Thanks for the information.
