Well helping my in-laws to get stuff ready for the auction and someone told them to spray silicone spray on their tractors to make them shine and look better for the sale. Is that a good idea or is there something else to use to help them old green 30 and 4020s look good for the sale at a cheap price.

Sometimes at the dealership we mix up a diesel/hydraulic oil mix and put it in a hand weed sprayer to coat the older implements. Makes em shine a little for cheap. Also makes them kinda tacky and collect dust.

You just brought back old memories.....
You maybe learned that from Korea? We did that to all the equipment for inspection..then out on those roads the truck became all dirt..just like the road. Great camoflage!

WD40 does a pretty good job and isn't nearly as sticky.

Power wash and spray them down with Penetrol and wipe it off. Penetrol is a clear oil base paint additive and it does not stay sticky very long if it is wiped down. Works real good on dull fiberglass.

John Thomas, you beat me to it.  was going to say the same thing about Korea.  And you're right, the minute stuff was put on those wonderful Korean roads, dust stuck like a magnet.

Don't use silicone!!  The next guy who tries to paint it will hate you!!  Penetrol is best.

Like Jeff Z said, just use car wax.  A little elbow grease will make a difference.

Why not just wash them down and sell them as they are ,I think putting stuff on them to make them look better then what they are  LOOKS CHEAP!.

Wash them down and sell as they are.My 2 cents.

I agree with ya Fred but they are in a bind as I had posted earlier and they have to get every penny they can to prevent having to sell the ground too. They have put new tires on three tractors and been putting matching used tires on the wagons that needed it and since most of the tractors are better mechanically than they look they were looking for something quick and easy to make them look a little better.

Hey I'm not a JD fan either but if you make that green shine a little seems like they bring good money no matter the condition.
