What is the diffrence in eng sn 117087 to 117104 and the other sn engines? When ordering parts from Tisco or A&I they list for D17 eng sn 113009 to 119937 { not for engine sn 117087 to 117104}. Anyone know why?  Thanks, Sam T-Ga.

Sam; I did a brief parts book surf and it looks like the difference is in the head type. As you know, the early D-17's had the WD-45D style block and head and the series III and IV had the D-19 style block and head. I didn't have time to study in detail to find out why some are excluded.

Water pump on block on later ones along with a little milder cam ,no notch on top of pistion and more meat on head with better cooling.

I just noticed it's only about 18 engines about 3/4 way through the ser numbers. I quess chance of having one would be shim. I just wandered what was different. Sam T-Ga.
