A lot of local clubs will not allow 38's on WC/WD/D17 as they say it was a aftermarket add-on and not factory.
Does anyone have a copy of the parts book indicating that AC listed 38's wheels as a option?

Just look in ANY AC parts book. 36's were the option on a WC........38's on all others.

Yes but when I point this out, the main comment back is then you need to have all the other high crop stuff on the tractor.

Trying to keep Allis down :)

The thing is when you put 38's on an allis it makes them a different tractor. And harder to beat !!

So dropping air pressure will sort of have the same result?

It's more foot print. Like 16.9x28 compared to 16.9x38. The 38 has more foot print and is a lil faster.

A tire width of 18.4 usually isn't allowed in Antique pulling......max width of 15.5's.

taller tire has more tire contacting the ground in front and behind the center of tire has less of a hole to crawl out of when the tire starts to bite in.

If its the same width yes   if the contact area is the same which would have the advantage short and wideer would be getting more new bite where tall skinnie bites more times in the same loose hole and this is not a discussion about rules .

Matt is that because you cant run wider short tires and yea if you can only run 15 innc wide yea a 38 will def pull better than a 28 up here we got tired of arguing about what size went on what so our rules are simple black round made out of rubber not cut 18 incc max width under 9000 lbs

around here tire size is 15.5 by 38 or 16.9 by 28 most guys that run short tires use 16.9 by 26 and they usually don't come close. have pulled against a guy with 16.9 by 30s and hes pretty tough so if your gonna run short tires id go with as wide as you can

When we started we were able to run 18-4/28 but had to carry the manual that showed they were available (rice tires)even though they were 26's. Then we got tired of getting whooped on went to 15.5/38's. But there was one track we walked away from everybody when we had the 28's on but I know we weren't competing.
