Answer is guage wheel. I am still looking for one for my 4-16 semi mounted plow. Close to Ohio is always nice.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

I was pulling 5-16s with my 7040 one night in a 78ac field got to the south side and wondered why it was pulling so hard. I got out and looked at it i was plowing over 18" deep (i was on my last end round). I back tracked ant found that the weld on the depth wheel broke (9000 series allis plow) when i picked up on the far corner it fell out, I had the 7040 standing up in the air. It still kept pulling tho had a mess trying to fill in the dead furrow.

What is missing in your picture?

Standing rain water or mud.....

Here in Illinois, that is all we currently have in our fields.  Honestly, I don't know how I got the soybeans harvested last November?  The Good LORD willed it...  With any luck, I hope to get my field tiled this year??  The Tile guy called today wonder if he could drive across the field to do GPS elevations with his jeep.  I told him that we had several rains this past week, but that I would give it a walk anyway.  In the wetter areas, my boots sunk over 3" causing water to perk out of the earthworm holes around my boots.  Even my dog was sinking in...   Its going be awhile before anything is happening here.

It is good to see that Ohio is dryer and some tillage work being done somewhere.  Thanks for sharing your great pictures Butch.

Hey that pic was from last spring, LOL. You couldn't pull 1-12 2" deep with a 220 FWA at my place right now, pure muck.

Elkhound furrrow dog for Fred and still no depthwheel unless I go get Chuck's while he is on the road.

By my parts book, gauge wheels were an option, like coulters, but not universal.

Butch, if it makes you feel better, my depth wheel has an authentic white wall tire on it.  Was that an option through AC?  Does that make it worth more?
