I'm wanting to put press steel rims on my wc. I've got adapters to go from 6 to 8 but they are thick and would be hard to make. I think I can make them out of one half inch plate but before I start I was wondering if anyone had some pictures or advice on where to start.

About three days ago somebody mentioned these guys. Looks like they have them already made up.

I second Cap Bros. A buddy of mine got a set of their 5 star centers for his 45, and a set of adapters for his wifes rig, quality work!!

and adapter that will accomodate both bolt patterns is going to be tough wouthout having the right tools like a mill and lathe.  you will have to have some way to counter bore the back side  to accomodate the bolts for the wheel and still allow it to bolt to the wc hub.  also gettting all those holes places correctly can be tough.    a slightly easier solution might be to cut a center with the bolt pattern of the wc and weld into the steel rim center.  my brother purchased a wc with a set of wheels like this.
nothing against cap bros as their product does look like quality work but i think they are ugly.  I am going to have a new center ring with the correct bolt pattern machined  and I will weld it into my pressed steel rims on my puller when i get to that point.

you could check ytmag classifieds as those adapters show up on there once in a while but quality ones are expensive

A friend of mine has a machine shop, and has made a few sets of those adapters for a couple guys I know. One has a D17 with 15.5 X 38 on 9 bolt wheels.

Is there any truth that a long phone discussion with Mlpankey gave you and the machinist who made them the verbal description of that pattern ?

Yes, I did speak with Mitch about a set he had for sale. Yes, he did describe them to me. How else would you make them???  I carried on old axle, both bolt patterns to the machine shop, told them what I needed.
I also spoke with Mr McDaniels about making a set, just for the record...

you can make them out of thinner metal if you run the bolts through from the backside.
