Dear all,

I am developing an old hydraulic  cold press machine ( which has a directional valve for pressing and a remote valve )  and I need to inverse the pressing method by inserting the mold above ( over ) the piston instead of under it , so the piston will press the mold while going up instead of pressing it while going down. Is there any problem/ damage  that may happen to the piston ?

Thanks a lot

Fareez

Not sure of your exact press, but small units were pressure down, then spring to lift it back up. If you have two way hydraulics, then you should be o.k. Just realize that a 50 ton press might only have a few tons to lift the ram back up. As long as this is a small load you should be o.k., but your wont get any where near the lift load that you have on the press load. Why does it have to be on lift, why not modify the procedure so you can press down ?

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

So your saying the mold has to be on top of the piston ?
Pressing down - the ram takes the force onto mold - but back of piston is still anchored to top of press so all force is exerted there also.
