Recently put a coil on the B10 when the mag went south. Also put in a new set of points. Now the exhaust will get red hot in a short time. Will this be caused by the points  not adjusted to the correct gap?  Any help appreciated.  Hud

Yes it will.

Did you install a new condenser with the points?

Adjustment of point is off. I think it is 1800. Could be the key in fly wheel partial stripped.

Points should be gapped at 20 thousandths.

did you use briggs mag part number 298968 mag 26018 points 298060 condensor or did you wire up a 12 v coil it has have the timing way off probley retarded to far we had a customers model 32 briggs quit running and when we figured it out the flywheel magnet had changed polarity and had to find new flywheel but it would run almost firing on exhaust stroke

I used a 12v. coil. I bypassed the mag and used the points to fire the coil.  I sort of eyeballed the points. Have not gotten back to it yet. May be spring before I mess with it again.  Thanks for the reply.  Hud
