looking at parts dealers it says that a wd clutch is 10 inch in diameter with a 1 1/4 inch hub and 10 splines, if i found a clutch with those specs from say jegs or summitracing it would work right?

ok, got in over my head lookin at clutches, whats the difference between spring, solid, and button clutches and which one works best

Button or 4 pad is the way to go. Less surface area but more surface pressure.

Spring center absorbs some stress when clutch engages, stops the shock load from transmitting . Solid center allows this shock but is less forgiving on any alignment problems as hub and disc are riveted to form one piece.

Button clutch has a higher friction coefficient and is either engaged or disengaged and allows little or no slippage .

I use them in my tractors, crawlers, heavy trucks, but one has to be careful also as they will wear pressure plate and flywheel faster if slipped that a fabric clutch will. When installing the flywheel should be refaced to clean ground surface first and same with clutch cover.
