well at least i wasnt 100 foot behind the competiors i was 10 foot and 15 ft behind them, so basically my 10 foot behind them and third was 10 times BETTER than you being behind them 100 ft. on a more positive note, the video that i am still trying to get uploaded was 20 foot from a full pull, ohh pank a full pull means you go all the way and the winner had a full pull so... anyway still working on vids now that i am back, having compatibilty issues

13.6 goodyear, seem to sink down and bite really good, the other one is a beat up old goodrich tire, but luckily they are both 45 degree tires, once the power adjust rims get takin off and we put wider rims on it it will have 14.9 firestone field and roads. good luck to you also, one thing i have noticed is if you conter balance your weight, since the seat is to the right side it pulls a lot straighter, i can have my fronts off the ground the whole time and not have to touch the brakes to steer

Hey pank, just so you know a ford 300 or 4.9 has a 4 inch bore, so you could probably use those pistons to hodge podge something together, for that matter a ford 400 has 4 inch pistons also just tryin to give you some ideas for a future engine

Well let me know when and where you will be pulling. You spent the winter talking big again. Post up some pics and results.
Or is it that you're so stupid and bored with yourself that you've resorted to picking on new members? I've never seen anyone do LESS to promote a sport that they claim to like than you pank.

you are an interesting fellow pank... you will call a rookie who is finishing 3rd and only 10 ft off the mark a looser, you call out a veteran of the sport with a tractor that he has moved far past and keeps for the fun and memories(i'm guessing here wi), yet you show no proof that you are puling or even own a puller anymore and the last standings that were shown had you consistently 100 ft off pace...where do you come up with that ego?!

I always thought loosing was as humiliating as I could stand . This younger generations seam to find consolation in loosing with the least amount of effort put fourth at what they are competing at . I have heard so much of this look at me I came in third place with a stock tractor its as sickening as getting a trophy for showing up .The age I grew up in loosing was a sign of weakness not succes the mentality of winning third place is foriegn to me . I dont win third place I lost first and second place to come in third. However I will give Wi kudos . He and his buddies have bragged about last years fourth place point finish. Deep down Wi is not happy with that by all the changes he has made to his tractor for this year . That tells anyone that deep down he knows fourth is not a win but infact a loss of three higher positions. He is attempting to move up the ladder only until the end of the year will he and the rest know if the changes made where sucessful or a risk in position . neither the less he and I alike are not satisfied with a position less than first. jmho

so this is your tractor or just your engine that broke?
there is nothing wrong with wanting to win but talking down to a kid that is new to the game and is finishing 3rd and only 10ft off the pace? how does that help promote? it probably does more to discourage newcomers by making them think the veterans are all a-holes. you should know it takes years to perfect your rig/skills, blue has been pulling for months.

The kid encouraged the response he got as you do also. My initial post was congrats on third when third becomes boring give us a call . That wasnt enough for him you or others so i give you and others a post on the wrong mindset you ,blue and others have in competing . If you do not agree with my opinion or like my opinions dont ask for them and when you do ask for them be advised that some can not handle them after all I know its a mindset that began at a early age of just getting a trophy for signing up with a youth recreation sports team that drives doing the least for reward.

blue pank is right...you should call him and have him build you an engine if you want to win big. when you get it back give it to your biggest competition. they will either get tossed for cheating or it will scatter across the track, either way you will be moving up the ranks.

As goodwrench states hard work dont always win but its more consistent in wins than luck and definately more rewarding than coasting along. A stock tractor in a modified class is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. When you do you loose. Sick puppies song gunfight.lol

So you quit because you couldn't win. Your results prove you aren't the winner you claim to be, this post tells us why you quit. Your other posts tell us that there's absolutely no way you have any practical experience in the shop.
Congrats Blue, you're more of a tractor puller than our resident VI and you just started your pulling endeavors having some fun.
Myself I pull for the money. You know it pays so well, a 3rd place finish in points at the state level is worth a couple hundred bucks, to win an event almost pays the maintenance to make the run. It's fun though. If it isn't extremely dangerous, ridiculously expensive, slightly immoral, highly illegal or a combination of these than it's just no fun. I have no doubts that all the work and money put into the tractor this year will not yield very high in the points standings. But I'm not a quitter like pank, I'll get it figured out with the help of my friends, partners and fellow competitors and have some fun and laughs in the process.
So here's a little lesson to drill into your simple mind plink0. No matter how much money you spend pulling, someone who's more intelligent will always be there to kick your tail. You found this out first hand now haven't you(see you do have some experience) 4mph class pulling at it's finest with pank 100 feet behind the leaders. Modified class pulling with the pankey name on the bottom of the placing.
Keep working at it Blue, treat everyone with the same respect they treat you with. I treat everyone the same weather they got a free tractor from grandpa to pull at the local fair or spend a quarter million dollars and bought something to run grand national with.

you are absolutely right, i do it for the love of the sport, i do it so other people can love the sport. i did it becuase i want to keep this going, every place i go to i get old people who are simply exasperated that there is a guy out there who isnt at least 50 years old or retired. the reason i took the honors of becoming a memeber of our local pulling association is my grandpa and his friend built a sled in 3 weeks not only for them to pull, but for others to pull, and i wanted to keep that going. Ohh and pank, i can guarentee that i am more competitve than you, you say minimal reward for minimal work is my attitude? that is why i run 5 miles a day for football, blow my brains out in the gym lifting weights, pull the sled as far as i can with my limited experience, making it so that others can pull their favorite tractor at the local tractor pull with out expecting any reward, i put in 12 hours and added 8 hours to the tractor with the packer on it. and you call that minimal work for minimal reward? you see pank i dont care what you say, i used my limited, almost none existant knowledge of weight placement and other tractor pulling skills and i went 229.3 feet on a 250 foot track i BEAT 8 other tractors, a majority of them with more power and bigger and better tires than i had and ALL of them with more experince than i had and i got third, in all the pulls i have went to i got a podium finish but on that particular day i got third, but you know what i am dang proud of that third place finish, am i always looking for first? hell ya but i got third instead, mind you i got third on a tractor that was bought for 800 dollars and had maybe 200 dollars invested in it all of that by my grandpa. i couldnt be more appreciative of him right now if i wanted to be. the only thing i am more proud of than getting third and doing better than you in my first tractor pull is that that man is my grandfather. for he gave up his pulling season becuase instead of fixing his tractor we were working on mine. he gave up hundreds of hours of his time to get my tractor ready for pulling, further more he gave me his well experienced knowledge, with over 38 years of pulling that he has, crap he probably has pulled more tractors than you have owned or blown up in your lifetime. not only that but he bought the tractor yet he says it is mine. and for those things i am proud, i am also pround to say i am an offical otter creek pullers memeber, helping other people get their stuff on the track before mine, and making sure they have a suitable track to pull on. so pank you know what that is, that is maximum work for NO REWARD but the reward of knowing that at the end of the day when i hang my hat up i did something for others

You still have that young taught mindset. You lost to two tractors by feet not inches a ways left to improve. If you have the desire to win. If not have fun being third or running from the winning tractors.ofcoarse you could try paying off the sled driver. Lol I dont think its right for me to take in work and put my own builds ahead of theirs so when i get slow is when and only when i play with my personal build

well pank you just dont get it, some people are just too dumb to understand that in an event like i just described even if you lose you win. also i dont have to pay off the sled driver cuase its my grandpa or our good friend who runs it, not that i would ever have to stoop to your level to accomplish something. also i never said there wasnt room for improvement, just that i was satisfied with what i had accomplished with so little. i still cant figure out how you accomplish so little with so much, or at least more than what i have got available to me, i dont have a machine shop, i dont have all the track time you claim to have, i dont even have the money you have yet i pulled the sled farther than you not only in the sport but from what you say, obvisouly i have pulled the sled farther than you in terms of life. yep fellas pankeys big what was it 6 inch crank got outpulled by the stock 4 inch crank with pistons running the stock 4.5 to 1 compression with mis matched 13.6 by 28 tires... so shameful

I assume you wil be at Tunica to be featured on the cover of the magazine next

Hahaha your ripping on a guy who knows he has little experience, enjoys the sport and is working to improve for next time, umm ok. You rip on him for loosing by a couple feet, when you showed us how you can loose by several yards!!! Spunk you have no right to say anything about anyone. Go home troll.
Who are some of these clowns you built engines for? If you have such a winning record you would think it would be good advertisement to post their finishes. Why does no one come on here praising the spunktastic engine shop???
Where's the Gleason?

I have one of those too Mitch. I pulled my 45 in a Farm Stock pull once and got beat by a 560 Farmall with an 806 crank and a shortened drawbar. I had my drawbar at the standard PTO length because that's what the rules called for in Farm Stock. An old friend thought I looked dejected after losing to a red one so he GAVE me his first place trophy from a different class. No I don't have picture, but I don't make up tractor pull stories either.

the pull that goes with the 2006 trophy . http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/xx26/pankeyc/ipad002_zps06af78fe.mp4" rel="nofollow">
and a picture with mike burchard holdin http://s738.photobucket.com/user/pankeyc/media/Resampled_2012-03-29_23-40-41_320.jpg.html" rel="nofollow"> g the sign and the guy the sign is for and the fellow taking the picture is the fellow ridig the tractor lol.
Theres alot wrong with that first place pull . front end is on the ground driver isnt risking being disqualified rodeoing . no use of tractor brakes due to rear end being shimmed to pull staright . never came off high idle never lost ground speed pulling front up and loosing hitch height . Just me picking a line close to the out of bounds line and riding it out the gate.lol
