After removing the axle that brokein front of the nut, I'm wondering why this happens. I did notice that the support arm pin/bushing had about .040 of wear. Would this cause the rail to wonder back and forth enough to cause a problem?

Movement of the track frame would be like a lever in putting pressure onto the bearing area of axle . As the truck frame is supported in two places both on rear housing and by the link-belt double roller bearing, a heavy side load might cause problem .
I do have a axle if you need one .

I have an axle and all the parts, but I was wondering if it would be worth replacing that pin/bushing. Do you have one of them to sell? Otherwise I could make one I guess.

Sold that along with the truck frame I had extra, don't think I have another one around. Might try shimming the end .
On the HD5B I had the casting where the inside mount was located broke on the previous owner . He ran the machine until he broke the axle also . Left track would walk out about 3" or more on front .
