Which side is it coming from ring gear or bull gear ?
Either way the seal should be the most out-board part of the assembly and should be able to be changed from that case housing

Not having any luck getting bearing retainer out, Randal, any suggestions? It's a serial# 2790 and the retainer looks like its behind the steering clutch housing or a very close fit. I live in Greenup County.

how far are you along in pulling the clutches and brake band out ? is the retainer you are talking about which holds the axle into the clutches ?

Got the clutch pack out and the throw out bearing assm. also the throw out bearing hub. Can see the seal, but the bearing retainer for the ring gear carrier is overlapping the seal. took the 4 bolts out of it but it wont move. It looks like it might be bigger than the hole in the clutch/brake housing.

IT WILL SLIDE OUT. I BELIEVE I TOOK A PUNCH AND BENT THE SEAL BACK FROM THE FLANGE. I THEN TOOL A 4 INCH LONG STOVE TYPE BOLT AND GROUND TWO SIDES FLAT WHICH ALLOWED ME TO SLIP THE HEAD INTO LOCATION BETWEEN SEAL AND FLANGE. WITH A NUT ON THREADED END I COULD USE PRY BAR TO APPLY PRESSURE AND CAUSE CAP TO POP OUT. A REAL SMALL BEARING PULLER MIGHT WORK VERY GOOD. RANDAL

Thanks Randal for the good info. couldn't make the stove bolts work, but was able to tap two of the bearing retainer holes and homemade puller popped it lose. Tight fit, pulled hard all the way. If hadn't had your input that it would come out thru the housing I would be doing track and final drive removal. Thanks again!!!
