I HAVE A  HD5G19311 TRACK LOADER WITH A BACK HOE ON THE REAR.  I HAVE A TRACK THAT IS LOOSE AND WOULD LIKE SOME ADVISE ON HOW TIGHTEN THE TRACK.

The track adjuster is a threaded piece that sets parallel to the truck frame. On front end is a clamp with 2 bolts that go into front idler bracket, loosen these 2 bolts to allow movement of threaded portion of adjuster , lube threads with penatrant and then with large wrench turn adjuster out to tighten chain.
If it has been a long time since it has been adjusted it may be frozen and heat will need to be applied. If this still does not work as a temporary fix you can shim the idler at end of the yoke or at cop end that sets on spring . Next is to split the track remove the full adjusting yoke and repair or loosen off the machine - then replace .

Also remember the tracks on a dozer are not supposed to be totaly tight there should be some droop in the top of the track.
