A 1 row picker-sheller ? That is a rare item. I would think a New Idea would be your best bet, If you can find one.

New Idea made the best pickers but I dont think they made a one row picker-sheller. Only a two row. Ryan

Are you wanting a mounted or pull type ? There would be more 2 row machines out there, but they are also not real common. Most would be wide rows, Yes.

You know, I have been to all the Half Century shows at Rantoul, and I don't remember seeing a 1 row picker-sheller at any of them.

I would have to be pull type unless a mounted one would fit a wc. its the only one i can dedicate the picker sheller to. I would be afraid that all the parts to put it on a tractor may not be there if you found a mounted one. you know the story " all the parts are in the box " then its half way on and your box is empty...Jb

As far as pull types, I've only seen two row NI pickers with a sheller. I've seen a few mounted types with shellers too. As far as baggers, I've never seen such a thing, but sure would like to if there are some out there.

Look for a two row wide row picker / sheller made by NI and just use one row to pick.
I know of a two row picked / sheller here in MO. but it's a wide row unit. PM me if you need a phone number.

We had a 2 row 30" New Idea that had a sheller and a shucking bed. Dad bought it at an auction and another guy wanted the sheller which was on the picker, so we took it over to that guys place and took the sheller off and went back to the farm and put the shucking bed on to bring it home I think it was a two day operation.
I think any NI sheller for a pull type 2 row picker would interchange with a wide or narrow row picker.
Thinking about the volume of corn produced even in one row you would need an awful lot of bags. LOL

We have had a one row picker sheller at our show for the last 4 years or so. It's an Oliver. when we last featured Oliver there were 2 picker shellers there and both Oliver. A 1 row and a 2 row. If you are in the market for a pull type picker sheller, you better plan on go to 38 inch rows unless you have a pretty good fab shop at your disposal. Most that I have seen are New Idea 2 rows.

I would give these guys a call. They completely rebuilt our 1 row picker last winter because many parts were seeing alot of wear. He had quite a few units for sale and treated us right.

We have a New Idea 325 narrow 2 row with a NI 329 supersheller.
Works great and corn comes out clean.
I would consider a 2 row over a 1 row just for the sake of
saving a lot of time. You can see it on the cornpicker forum on
page 2 under wisconsin corn picker.

I noticed you want to pull it with a WC, we had a NI 2 row wide picker/sheller the cage type sheller does a wonderful job, but pulls HARD, I would have serious doubts if a WC would even handle a 1 row unit in average corn today. We tried our 2 row on a 656 IH and it had "enough", a NI machine is designed to operate at a field ground speed of roughly 3.25-3.5 mph for cleanest "snapping" get much slower and you will have unacceptable loss on the snapping rolls, esp with today's corn hybrids.

what i meant was if i went with a mounted picker it would have to go on the wc as its the only tractor that i can put it on and use only for picking. a pull type i wouldnt use the wc on that. thanks for the replies...Jb

I would recommend a NI 324/325 with a 329 supersheller. I grew up with one of these units, it did an excellent job and picked real clean put a lot of hours in a 7000 pulling a NI 324 with 329 supersheller.

I have owned New Idea pickers for 30 years #7's, a# 323 and currently a #325, they were all good pickers, However the picker I liked best, and did the best overall job was a #5 Oliver. I sold it when I bought the low use 323 and often wished I had the old Oliver back with a longer corn elevator to fit my bigger gravity wagons. It picked cleaner than any of my New Ideas. I never saw an Oliver picker-sheller or a 2RN Oliver around here but maybe you should look for one of those. Russ is right on, the New Idea's pulled harder...Harvey

picking is totally foreign to me --
but what about an allcrop with corn head if your shelling anyway? i know they didnt make many corn heads for the allcrop but if picker/shellers are hard to find... might as well look for the cadillac of harvest....
