| Saw some light supers pull a few weeks ago myself. They put on a good show. Question, wheel speed is??? on a good one. They appear to be getting it up there. |

Butch, typical light supers hook in a 18 to 1 gear. 18 turns of the crankshaft to 1 of the wheels. The tires are right about a 30 inch rolling radius. Some of the engines run 5000 rpm, some turn up in the mid 8000's, but they run a little slower gear. Some guys can run a 16 to 1 gear and others are 19 to 1.
If you've got 18 to 1 and can blow enough wind in the engine to make good power at 6000 RPM you'll be in the running as long as you stay upright, weight it right, set the drawbar and tires right and get lucky once in a while.
A good safe bet is anywhere from 50 to 70 mph wheel speed if you do the math on a few different setups.
