Hey guys, new here, my dad just picked up this machine:  I think its a 7gb, but im not sure how to tell the difference between a 7g and a 7gb? It has the 6 cylinder tubro diesel engine. As soon as we got it home we noticed an oil leak. Climbed under and saw someone had patched the oil pan, poorly. WE decided to take it off and repair, but cant get it off. We pulled all the bolts from the pan, but its like its still held on somehow. Anyone have any idea how to get it off? |

| It is a 7GB, the 7G(I have one) has two upper rail rollers and a four cylinder diesel. Can't help with the pan but if it is exposed someone removed the skid pan from under it and that is why it was holed the first time. You may want to invest in a service manual(ebay is a likely look) and a parts guide for your series, I did for mine and not regretted that move yet. |

Ya thats what I've figured out so far. its a 7gb and has the 3500 6 cylinder tubro diesel. But I still dont know how to get the oil pan off

| If your pan bolts are all removed you need to knock on with a hammer she must be stock with the gasket |

ok Im not near the machine right now, but we took all the pan bolts out going up into the engine. (if you are laying under the machine) What about the bolts between the oil pan and trans- facing toward rear of machine- do those need to come out too? almost look like oil pan goes up over that cover on front of trans

| I dismantled 2 ALLIS CHALMERS 7GB for parts but I do't remember about these bolts but the 7g the 5 bolts pan who are bolting on housing transmission have to be removed |

ok when we tried to pull the one, trans fluid was pouring out, why we stopped. Im going to go out and look and it now, and snap some pics for you to check out from underneath

Front- 6 bolt holes, 6 bolts removed:  Both sides, 11 bolt holes I believe per side:   Rear-  I removed those 5 bolts that go into the trans, bunch of trans fluid ran out, but the pan will not budge. I got a long rod and hit the lip of the pan from the top. Nothing, it actually dented the pan slightly but didnt crack the seal. Am I missing any bolts? or is this thing just stuck on there that tight

| I think the lipp have to be removed and sometime we need a piece off wood 4x4 and sleedge hammer and knok on pan ,the woner should have use some glue on gasket |

Ya the previous owner told my dad they rebuilt the engine- thats why the belly pan was off of it, they never put it back on.
What lip do I have to remove? you mean that thing in the back with the 5 bolts?

| you will have to drain the trans oil and take out the bolts also check if there are any at the front of the pan horizontal , I recommend never operate this machine without all the belly guards on |

Silicone can form a really tight bond when used on a ll 4 sides, use a wooden block and a good sized hammer on the side of the pan near a turn at the bottom. Several good HARD wacks should start to peel it loose. If you ever get it started you can insert a small pry bar in the gasket bolt flange and pry it down. ------------- Yea, I can fix that..... |

| Thanks for the replies guys. Probably wont get out to look at it again until saturday. Going to try checking for bolts up front and try to block + hammer. |
