I picked up a 7030 this winter to do some chiseling with. I noticed right away it would heat up I pushed the clutch in let it back out there was nothing. So I pushed the button in for high range and it kicked in right away but when you switch it back you have nothing. What could it be there is no hydraulic peaks that I can see. It's really a pain having no clutch control as you take off!

Most likely the piston sealing rings in the power director. With age, they get hard and brittle, almost turn to a plastic like substance. The trans. pressure light below 1800RPM light should be coming on when this happens, then go out when shifted to high side. The tractor would need to be split behind the engine, and then remove the power director and freshen it up.Look at the torque limiter while you are there. There could be a problem in the valve body behind the engine, but seldom is that the case.
