I just noticed today that my 7060 PD won't shift into gear if it has been sitting in neutral while running. You can shove the clutch in and go from gear to gear, but don't release the clutch, push it in and try to shift. You have to then shut it off. At times, you can hear a bit of growling, but it is intermittent. Is there a clutch brake in these units like in the powershift?? Thanks.

There is a clutch brake, it is a wet brake controlled by a valve on the top of the bell housing right behind the left lower dash panel as you are getting into the tractor, it can be seen from the engine area as well, either two things have happened, if all your outher hydraulic functions are normal. The cable on the clutch has stretched, and the brake isn't being commanded on, or there is another internal problem. The clutch and the clutch brake are controlled by the same valve, and if the valve doesn't travel far enough the brake won't activate. I don't believe the brake was ever intended to stop the tractor travel, but most get used that way, so it could be worn discs as well, I am not sure I know what grown you are talking about, but at idle these tractors have a bit of a rattle in the trans, nothing to worry about, but it the grown only sounds when the clutch brake is activated, that could be a problem. Basically to adjust the cable to take out all of the slack, and you will be fine. The valve need to start moving at the same time the clutch pedel does, or the brake won't always, or ever function.

Thanks, I will check that out. I thought I could smell some hydraulic fluid at the same time I was depressing the clutch. I will check to make sure there isn't a leak some where. I may have some clutch problems, as I have experienced some slippage, that I thought may have been the PD, but I am doubting that now.

Take all the free travel out of clutch with engine OFF. Loosen the clamp on cable and pull it toword the engine. MACK
