I'm working in on a G project. The transmission oil level is very low, so will drain what is left and replace. From what I've been able to find, capacity is 6 quarts.

What is the preferred type/weight of oil to use in the G transmission?

And is there a known weak point I should be checking for a leak?

The original manual called for a 20W trans oil.  Any of the universal trans/hydraulic oils on the market would be suitable, generally they are multigrade 10W20 or 10W30 oils.
