Well I just ordered a bunch of stuff to get the WD45 back in play. I eagerly await delievery so I can finish up. 12V electrical system, basic tunup, basic replacement of general stuff.

In another thread I talked about some running issues I had. Issue number one is low spark. So the new 12V coil-ballast resistor-points-cap-condensor-ignition wires-and spark plugs should get to the bottom of that in a hurry.

Issue number two is the carburetor. It is a Marvel #464 model. It literally pours gas out the inlet side. It must have been a long term problem because when I bought the tractor last fall, the hose from air cleaner to carb was completely eaten away at the bottom. So I am thinking it was dumping gas in this manner for a long time to be able to do that to the 'radiator style' hose. My ferguson uses this carburetor and in 7 years I have never had an issue with it. So I have elected to rebuild this carburetor and have ordered a rebuild kit and new floats for it.

While I am waiting for this stuff to arrive I will finish my painting. I must say it looks much better all painted up. I also did purchase the 3 bottom plow from the one guy outside of Appleton, Wisconsin that I read about here on these forums. Nice guy all around and the plow should be a breeze for the wd45 to pull when I get it running.

3-14 SC plow should be a breeze for the 45. I've plowed some with mine and in 2nd, she don't even notice a load. Good luck with the carb and squaring away any electrical woes.

One thing I am looking for in order to get plow working is the lower snap coupler ring. It is missing from the plow. It does have both lift arm assemblies that hook into WD45, just not the lower ring. I thought of making my own but if there is a source to buy one of these, that seems easier.

I believe the 'Snap Coupler' ring you are missing on your Plow is common on many other Snap Coupler equipment items. Eg. Disc, Cultivator, Rake, etc.

Should be able to find a used one.

Here's a few things that can cause the carb to overflow with gas.

1. debree or junk in the float valve seat causing it to not shut off the flow of gas into carb. bowl.

2. Tip of float valve may become hard and not seat properly again letting in too much gas.

3. Float height may be set too high allowing too much fuel into bowl.

4. Float may have a pin hole in it and it's more of a sinker than a float.

Thanks for the carb comments. I figured there was a no-shut off thing happening. So I look forward to tearing this apart and doing the rebuild. I also suspected a sinking float and just went ahead and ordered a new float in addition to rebuild kit. This should make the thing brand new.

As far as where I bought all of my parts; Steiner Tractor Supply. They do not have everything mind you but do have most of what a person needs for basic things like I am doing. Parts ordered were: 12v 1 wire alternator, ballast resistor, 12v coil, points, condensor, cap, rotor, plugs, ignition wires, alternator conversion brackets, Marvel carb rebuild kit, Marvel carb float, every engine hose needed, wd45 operators manual and service manual, and oil filter. I am planning on a future order for things like battery box, steering wheel, possibly a new hood, and brake components.

Rented out a nice 13acre parcel that will become a hayfield. Looking forward to doing the work via WD45 power. :)

Speaking of brakes....

How unholy of an affair is replacing them on a WD45? Right now I have zero brakes. Without having the service manual delivered yet - and me just looking at the tractor - it looks like rebuilding the brakes could be tough for a novice like myself.

Brake job on a WD/ WD45 can be a challenge, wait till you get the manuals could be they are out of adjustment (lets hope) if not adjustable the hardest part will most likely be the pin on the bottom. when you get closer to that part we all can share more.
