I was looking into fluid to put in my tractor tires that I use on the farm and the only option around here is magnesium chloride. Is this less corrosive than calcium? Has anyone had any experience with it? Thanks for any responses

I'm pretty sure it's the chloride that is corrosive and not the calcium, so I wouldn't think magnesium chloride offers any advantages over calcium chloride, in terms of corrosion.

i have heard old wise tales of old timers using beat juice for fluid because it does not hurt the rims. I personally would pay the difference and go with ether duals or wheel weights i heard of a fluid that is out there as well that a tire shop uses that is west of Henderson MN and they claim that it is non corrosive and just as heavy as calcium chloride but be prepared to pay a pretty penny i think beat juice may surprise you though would be worth checking out. Any local canning factory can supple beat juice when in season that is.Big smile

Anti freeze is also an alternative. Check with the scrappers and service stations (including dealers) for used anrifreeze.
Have used CACl and only time I had a problem was when I ran some brush thru the tire; I also chane out the valve cores eavery year or two as they seem to be the 1st place to leak a little.
