Pulled the fuel tank off today so I could check and clean the 3 vents on top of the trans and rear end housing. After having problems in the past with leaks on the old sediment bowl filters, I've decided not to put them back on. I plan on using a flange mount remote filter similar to what is on some of my military vehicles, which is a steel can with a replacable element inside. Then I found an A-C, flange mount, remote filter with a spin on filter that I'd picked up at the salvage yard one time. It was used on a diesel engine, maybe 170 or 180. Can this type of filter be used on gasoline? I would put a shut-off valve on the outlet of the tank.

It is easy and cheap to get new gaskets for the original sediment bowls. They have always done the trick on my tractors. The flange mounted filter is mounted on the side of the engine for diesel tractors - but they still have the sediment bowls on the bottom of the tank.
