I need to know what to use in an Alllis Chalmers CA tractor for transmission oil. If it
should be a non-detergent 20 w oil or is there something else I can use? Any help would
be appreciated.

First welcome to the best web site.
Yes 20 weight non-detergent because the hydraulic pump gets it's oil from there.

20W non detergent motor oil was what they originally used. You can use universal tractor hydraulic fluid in it.

Go to the local farm store, auto store, or wal mart.. Look for universal tractor fluid, hytrans, or hydraulic- transmission fluid... any will work great.   - buy a 2.5 gallon jug- use almost all of it.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

My pump is leaking quite a bit. Is 20 wt oil thicker than hydraulic fluid and a better choice  since I have leaks?

Yes, 20W is thicker, heavier

Heavier oil will make very very little difference in amount of oil it will leak when it gets hot. Use the newer oil, universal hydraulic.    MACK
