OK I'm brand new,Looking for help. I bought an AC from a family that their father had just passed away. they knew nothing about tractor....So here goes It's 4-cly. gas.4-speed with hi n lo on right side lever, has 3-point hitch, PTO.wide front end. has front end loader.Rear tires are 28's(by data page it's D-17) Has curved gear  from left side of trans.(not D-17)...#s on front of trans. housing left side,down near floor board say's 63287A....this would jive for a D-17 but not for a D-14 or D-15(which has curved gear shift...have been told D-17 has straight shift lever located in center in front of seat) ..tractor has 1 rear hyd. remote in rear under seat..also has traction boost...I think that's what it is called......It's been painted with barn red paint and I can't find any emblems under the paint...OK what Have I got???...........Dave

The serial number is on the left side on the torque tube where the engine bolts in. You may have to scrape the paint. It will tell you the tractor model and serial number which we can then give you the year of the tractor. ------------- Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed |

Never seen a D-17 with a curved shifter.D-14 or 15 would be my guess. ------------- You only need to know 3 things to be a plumber;Crap rolls down hill,Hot is on the left and Don't bite your fingernails 1964 D-17 SIV 3 Pt.WF,1964 D-15 Ser II 3pt.WF ,1960 D-17 SI NF,1956 WD 45 WF. |

| Calvin I found the numbers ,where the tractor bolts together(just in front of the shift pattern,left sidedown near the floor board...the numbers were stamped into the flange of rear section......the number is to large for a 14 or 15 , but a 17 doesn't have a curved gear shift.....am I looking in the wrong Place.... |

First off, WELCOME to the Allis Discussion board. There is a wealth of knowledge on here.
Look at the rear of the engine on the left side, between the carb and the fuel filter bowl.
The serial # will be stamped into the flange of the torque tube. Like Calvin said, you might have to scrape paint to see them. On my D15 it would be above where the clutch rod goes into the torque tube and a little toward the front. Bob

Here is where the serial number should be. Should start with d14, d15, or d17 then a space and a the serial numbers will follow.

| Found the numbers...couldn't quite make out the D but it is a 14..1958 model...kinda disapointed...hoping for more HP...but it runs good every thing works PS,PTO.3-point hitch,front end loader and 3 new tires.....but needs paint and decals ..been changed to 12Volt (GM Alt. & batt. I'm sure starter is still 6 volt )...Paid $2,000.....Hope it will lift 4x5 bales....has 2-way power on bucket...I don't think I got hurt.....Thanks for the help...Dave |

Sounds like a good deal to me. You might have to put something heavy on the 3 point to keep traction on the rear wheels.

| Raer's are not loaded..but have hay spear for rear and on bucket....so I think I'm OK there....this loader looks like part of the frame holds fluid also..is this common? |

| The tractor's hydraulics have high pressure/low volume system so the rear lift doesn't work a loader like a more modern tractor would. So, it's common to use a loader with a front mounted engine driven pump to get good hydraulics for a loader. Also due to the front mounted pump it's common for the loader frame to be the reservoir for the loader. |
