My father has an Allis Chalmers D19 that needs the brakes taken off and replaced.  He has located the brakes as being above the rear axel and the bolts are stuck.  He thinks there are 4-5 bolts holding the brake to the frame.

He needs to know (1)  Is there anything else holding the brakes onto the frame? (2) Can he hit the bolts to break them loose?  (3)  Any and all information from the brake replacement part of the mechanics manual (which he does not have to consult) to fix the tractor.

Thank you for your help, I am going to relay any replies to my father.

The brakes are above and forward of the axel with 4 bolts holding the cover to housing.
Apply more pressure on bolts, they should come out.  MACK

Get a longer breaker bar if you have to, they shouldn't twist off. Once you get into them, they are probably not what you would expect; there is bands and discs both and some steel balls and springs. should be able to find re-linings for them after market, cause the agco price on emwould choke a horse.
