D14's were designed to pull 3/14's so I'd say yeah. I'm not an expert but just my opinion.

I should add that it depends on soil type

My uncle used to pull 3x16 mounted with a stock WD. What ya got going?

I would say in lighter soils or mellow soils it can but probably not in gumbo. If it had a 45 crank put in it then it would for sure. Dad used to pull 3x16 mounted in gumbo soil in 2nd gear but it worked the snot out of it. In our soil now it breaths easy pulling 3x16 in 3rd gear.

My dad told me he once pulled a 3-14s with the C in second. He said the gears sounded like they were gonna bust, he would have to go to 1 st in a hard spot. Good soil in midwest ohio.

This is one of those questions that is pretty specific to the ground being plowed. The ground around here no way. That don't mean it won't work were you are.

We pull a 3/14 snap coupler since bought new, and, want to buy a 4 bottom because it still will pull with ease, go for it !!!

My WD plays with a 2-14 WD pick up plow (mounted but not snap coupler) but had a heck of a time getting traction with an Allis pull type 2-14. No weights or liquid ballast and worn tires. I think it would handle a 3-14 mounted plow with added wieght. My WD45 has no problem with a 3-14 snap coupler plow with 1 pair of rear weights but it has more HP too.

Yeah, pretty subjective question.  If you put ANY plow in 4 yards of concrete... nothing short of an excavator will pull it... it was a pretty common setup for those tractors, so you can figure that under a good chunk of conditions, it probably will.

It depends on soil type but our WD has m&w pistons in it and it would pull that plow all day and night long!! Ryan

If you are buying a SC 3 bottom plow don't worry about pulling it. If you have trouble, you can remove the middle bottom and have a 2 bottom plow so you can plow in 3rd at an idle.

Years ago my brother was farming with WD's.  He told me that, in the same amount of time,  he could plow just as much ground with a two bottom (higher speed) as he could with a three bottom  (lower gear).

That's an interesting thought. I would like o see a chart on that. The numbers might come together after say 5acres. However surely the mfg's plow ratings have taken that into account to maximize a tractor's potential to do work.

The "manufacturers " rating was for 2 bottoms. The WD was a pin hitch tractor and I have never seen a 3 bottom pin hitch plow. I suppose there might be a few around, but there are a lot more 2 bottom WD plows

I had a snap coupler 3 bottom for my WD and it just anchored the tractor once it got in the ground....the traction booster just lifted the front end up, but that was in the concrete-like sod of SW MN. Put on plenty of weight regardless.

I have both, a 2 & a 3 bottom pin hitch.  The 3 has coverboards.  We had a 3X14 on our WD, but it makes a difference in soil type , and also moldboard # or shape makes a difference, the wrong combination doesn't work well.
