what is the bests way to go the engine unstuck? we have the head off and the pistons are all stuck. the sleeves have alot of gunk n rust on them and are probably scratched up.. same way with the pistons.... will we have to buy new sleeves and pistons?

Hi James!

Since youv'e got the head off, get one'a those nylon brushes impregnated with abrasives... put it on an extension, hook it to a cordless drill, and scrub out the inside of the cylinders... vacuum out the crud with a shop-vac... then hit it with every penetrant you can think of. My favorite is a 3-way mix of ATF, acetone, and diesel fuel.

With all four stuck, you may have a difficult time making progress, and if you get mad and silly, you might end up breaking something you shouldn't.

You can drop the pan, unbolt the rods, spin the crank out'a the way, put a big piece of wood in the rod-end, tap on it with a mallet, and knock each of the rod/piston/sleeve assemblies out of the block one-at-a-time... and once out, you can concentrate on trying to free 'em individually... if you can't get 'em free, you needed new pistons, rings, and sleeves anyway, just try not to damage the rods.
