Tiling last summer in 90 degree weather.  I was hoping for cooler conditions at the time and now we've gotten plenty of it this winter.  Thought some of you might enjoy the Cat D-4 pictures also.  It's a '1959'

Great pics.Never saw a tractor drawn trencher.Looks like a nice set up.Would hope that 220 would have plenty of power to pull that machine. Is that a cable hooked to the front of the 220.Just now saw that

The trencher is a 1978 PT18 and your forward movement is by hydraulic wench using a 250 ft. cable hooked to the D4 dozer.

Nice looking equipment.  I am AC all the way, but I do love those old pony start CAT's. I have a 1950 D46U with a tool bar blade and single shank rear subsoiler.  Seeing your pictures makes me want to get out and work it. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Do you pull with the winch for straight lines or for even pressure on trencher without taxing clutch on tractor.I take it the 220 doesn't have a super granny gear.

I can't believe the condition of the 220! Is that original paint? If so,someone took great care. Mine's a little weathered.

Transmission is in neutral while trenching.  A flow control valve by the console that I operate, regulates oil flow to winch, which regulates forward speed. (slower than 1st gear).
