I have come across a couple of Model G rear tires that were purchased by the owner a long time ago. It may have been 30 years. At the moment they are in a storage area above his shop. They may have been stored there since he got them but I don't know.
The question is...
If these tires have been sitting somewhere for 30 years, can they still be used?

Take them to a tire shop and have a boot put in where the cracks are and use them. The G is not very heavy so I think they would be alright. If you change them yourself, there wont be much invested.

Better not waste your time Scott. Just set them aside and I'll haul them off for ya when I get back down to visit the inlaws. LOL You could drop them off at Peach State Ambulance for me. I need a set whenever I get my rims picked up from Larry.

They will be stiff and hard and so hard to mount, but if they survive that they may outlive modern tires.

The 14.9's on my 45 were bad weather checked when I bought the tractor in 1980. Still have the same tires on her and plowed snow Wed. with it.

Yeah I think they should be ok if they were out of the sun and don't have any cracks. They are only 2 ply, so it doesn't take much for one to let loose if they are cracked and the rubber is hardened.

Gerald,
This is what I'm concerned about.
Is there any way to know before a purchase has been made?
Best regards,
Scott

standing up is not the way to store tires for long terms, but they should be OK.

If they are purchased, will any take-off's be available for sale? I need 1 to make my G moveable.

If purchased, they would be part of a package deal that would require their use on a tractor.
Best regards,

I think they will be fine, my dads WD has the original tires on it and my 38 B and my C have tires that look original since they only have the old size on them not the XX.X size
