| Could someone get me some measurements from an unstyled WC? I need to know how long the steering shaft is. I need to know how long the clutch rod is. And I would like to know how much space is between the clutch pedal and the frame rail. I made a clutch rod but it hits the frame rail before it completely releases the clutch. I assume the rod I made is to short. |

steering shaft 69" clutch inside the part that goes into the piviot points 25 1/2" |

As long as we're doing unstyled WC measurements, does anyone know the length of the throttle rod from one end to the other end by the steering wheel? mine has a hand made bend on the one end and it doesnt' look right and the throttle won't throttle up or down properly. ------------- 1955 WD45 diesel 203322 was my dad's tractor, 1966 D15 23530, 1961 HD3 Crawler 1918, 1966 D17 IV 83495, 1937 WC 41255, 1962 D19 6221 |

overall length is 71 1/2 "
But my WC is not running so I am not sure if it is correct.

My Steering shaft measured 68". That is from the face of the steering wheel to inside the u-joint, wonder if it is a different style steering wheel? My wheel is the covered one, no metal showing. I have a rough cut shaft, 72" waiting for me to get the pins out of the steering wheel. Proving to be a rather daunting task, so far a grinder, hammer and punch seem to be no match, drill is next, trying not to use blue wrench. ------------- Maximum use of available resources! |

| JW I'm at the same stage with my steering wheel. I went out yesterday and cut the steering shaft to length and made the clutch rod then tried hard to remove the old steering wheel and the only thing I removed was a big hunk of hide off the top of my hand. I can't tell which is the big end of the pin so I had to try both ways. |

I'm going to drill a hole in the end of the shaft, just past the pin and then see if the pin will budge. ------------- Maximum use of available resources! |

If you are planning a total replacement of the steering shaft that opens up all kinds of options. I would first cut the old shaft off near the steering wheel so it is easier to manipulate, and then think about drilling the shaft out of the wheel. if nothing else, it will weaken the pin and maybe the pin would shear off. The nubs left in the steering wheel would be a lot easier to knock out that way. I think. I have never done this, but I think this might be the method I would try first. ------------- If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done! |
