The shifter side plate is leaking oil and needs a new gasket. Does the shifter need to be removed to take the plate off?

the round plate has the shift forks and rods mounted to it.. when you pull it out, the forks will disengage the gears.... replace the gasket and watch what your doing when you reinstall... shift lever does not need to be removed... but it pilots into grooves in the shift rail when you reinstall..

Can’t seem to find a gasket. Guess I’ll have to make my own. Any one know how thick it is? Does it matter how thick?
