I finally got both rear ends back together and have been driving around.  Steering is tough.  Clutches work but brakes do not.  Drained a little water and oil from each side.  Manual talks about using solvent to clean brakes and steering clutches.  What can I use as "solvent"?

First off do not leave the 3/4" pipe plugs in case bottom as oil and water drain from there
I installed plugs , then used diesel fuel to wash clutches and brake bands , couple gallons in each side , run machine operating clutches and brakes - then park and drain cases .
I blocked clutch levers in pulled position to allow any fluid to drain from between plates
Since I changed to HD11 metallic rather then fiber clutch plates have not had to wash them .
