Hello folks, I need to replace the spring/shock on the seat of my 7000. I bought one from DJs along with bushings.
Should I try to replace with seat in the cab or remove seat assembly? I’m a big old guy so it’s tight and I’m not as flexible as I used to be. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I did mine last year and started off trying to take it apart in the cab, but soon found it was easier removed. If you take the seat off the suspension it is a little less cumbersome. Some bolts are easier to get to standing on the drawbar and reaching through the rear window. I swapped my pivot pins front to rear because they wear in different locations. I took some pictures of the process, more for me to remember than anything. It is well worth the effort.

Ted thats a good looking seat. Did you have the original recovered or buy a new on. If its new where did you get it?

I purchased it new from Vevor. I haven't been in the tractor much since I changed it, but it came with rails to adjust forward and back. They don't slide because the bolts hit, and they add a little too much height. I need to remove them, just haven't got to it yet. It also has another pad to go on top, but I run a baler so I thought it might get in the way. Second cutting is coming, I will get the rails out and maybe try the headrest.

Well, finished my seat rebuild. Thanks to Doc and Ted. Pictures and comments were especially helpful. I wouldn’t say it’s an easy job. But well worth it. Feels like a different tractor not flopping back side to side. And new shock doesn’t bottom out like before. Ted is right, recommending power ratchet. And it helps a lot to have a partner inside the cab to keep a wrench on the bolts when removing the seat frame. My lovely little wife of 40 years helped me. As always thanks to forum members for your help. dp.

I cannot stand a seat with sloppy suspension and a shock that bottoms out when I did down on it.
