Went with Grandson to look at a WD for sale, turns out it has a Leroi engine Confused It starts right up and runs nice, both clutches work correctly, brakes need work (no surprise there), transmission seems tight, good tires all around.

Grandson wants to buy it (it's his money he earned haying), the only reservation I have is the Leroi engine. Is that something to avoid or is it no big deal?

If it is a tractor that has to "work" to earn its keep, when it comes time to overhaul it, I am told crankshaft main bearings may no longer be available. They are different than what AC used.

I have a Leroi 201 in a gehl chopper. When I overhauled it I used a wd kit. Everything worked. The only difference i saw in the whole engine with what allis used was the Leroi rods had a floating piston pin.
