I was able to get one of them, ran the price up a bit on another. Probably could have got it but I had a few other things I was bidding on, didn't want to blow my budget. I guess that is three tractors for me this year, and I don't really need this one. It just makes it a little easier switching from rakes to baler when you don't have to unhook and hook up, just hop from one tractor to the other. Same here, always easier to jump on a different tractor than switching implements. I also will say that I’d like to have an Allis Chalmers museum someday when I retire (that’s a ways away….) . That 8070 ($8000 and 8550 ($6000) didn’t bring a lot, maybe something was wrong with them? ------------- 1955 AC WD45 diesel with D262 repower, 1949 AC WD, 1963 A-C D17 series 3, several Allis garden tractors

Both the 8070 and 8550 had video of them operating in the listing. I realize that is no guarantee there is nothing wrong, but you do get to see and hear it running. One of the things I had to consider was transportation if I did buy one. And an auction needs two people interested to run the price up, the 8550 only had one bidder that had to bid against himself to meet the reserve, at least last time I looked at the bid history. I bought the 7030 very cheap and made sure someone else paid a little better price on the 7040, but had to hold back as I was still chasing a big baler later in the sale. It seems Allis isn't highly popular in the northwest. Edit to add this is the same auction yard where I picked up a cheap D14 last month.
