Good morning all
new to the forum and have a question
I have a HD6 that I need final drive bearings for.
I have the parts book and am working to match modern bearing to the machine'
Question is this. Any one cross referenced bearings from the book to modern bearings?
Sorry if this has be addressed before I havent taken the time to go through all of the posts. The machine runs strong just needs new bearings and seals on the out board side
I don't want to tear it down until i see if I can get parts
Thanks in advance
JIm

you would be able to cross bearings when torn apart, nothing special. i have a 6 parts machine with complete finals in KS if you might need something.

That outboard bearing is no longer available unless you can find a NOS or used.
Here is another thread with excellent information.

we found those big double sphericals from a large bearing warehouse for our series B  11.  had genuine and off brand available.  not the same bearing obvously, but there is a chance finding something.

Question is the transmisson complete?
Might be easier to just swap them out

If you have to removed your transmission you better repair and swap for a other one maybe yours is better ?

I finally dropped the cover on the inside of the sproket and found everything intact.
however the shaft spins freely which leads me to believe the shaft is broken or the splines are shot. from what i see the shaft will be the fun part to find. Also may need a sproket as it looks like the splines on the sprocket are worn out
I ll see what i come up with.

I have a used final that has all the parts inside. I guy just took the shaft out of the other side. Splines where all good. The sprocket was not bad for as bad as the tracks are.His shaft was broken.

But I am to crippled up with arthritis to take it off for you. The track had been removed from the other side by others. This side still has the track. So a all day job I would guess. In the Land of Fruits and Nuts (Calif).

HD5 and HD6 use same rear castings and parts , 2 link longer track on 6
Outboard Link Belt bearing is the tough one as all other bearings in trans and finals are stock parts easy to obtain at bearing house
