How do you degree a D17 cam? Does someone manufacture an adjustable cam gear, I know you can get one for a JD or elongated the bolt holes on one but the AC is keyed and pressed on. Information please.

You could go a couple of ways. I mainly work on the smaller AC engines and I have made a jig to cut a new keyway in the gear. Others have had an ofset key made. If I understand correctly, the larger engines at some time had a 3 bolt cam gear, if that is so, you could find one of those cams with the matching gear and slot the holes to get what you need.
------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

Cummings used an offset key on 855 and L10 engines.

WD's and early WD-45's had a 3-bolt cam gear attachment method. Later WD-45's had the press on gear identical to a D-17. D-17's had two different camshafts, with the difference being the oil pump driving gear tooth count to control oil pump speed/capacity. Offset key or cut wider keyway in the cam gear slot the way you want the timing to go. What "grind" are you using on your camshaft ??
