This may help anyone who's trying to get a cylinder apart for resealing. They are all over Gleaners and some Allis tractors. Instructions are to go through oil port with screw driver and pry snap ring over to deep groove. I struggled by trying to wedge screw driver in groove near end and twist it to move ring. Could not do it. Finally I just pryed against the ring and it moved over easily starting at the end. It is rather simple when done right but was kicking my butt for quite awhile. I think it will be just as easy going back together if I reverse procedure. Thing is,I've done this before and don't remember have such a time....but it's been a few yrs. Been a couple weeks since I did the picture thing and was kinda edgy. Got my notes out, they aren't that great. Thanks 7060.

Assembly didn't go well. Took 8lb sledge to "tap" it through the seal and then I managed to push the snap ring over the groove into the cylinder. Had to tie both ends to the cherry picker to pull ram past the seal,of course destroying the lip. Call this a "do over".
