Working on a 160 to get it back up to snuff. Has a bunch of leaks and it pops out of 5th and 6th gear going down hill. Not too worried about fixing leaks as the popping out of gear could mean an impossible search for gears. Parts seem to be kinda hard to find for those tractors… Thinking it’s an early model from looking at it. Haven’t dug into the trany yet due to weather being cold and no heated nor insulated shop but next week looks promising.

Unfortunately these 160’s/One-sixties are hard to get parts for. Great little tractor though

Is it a letter tractor or a number tractor? One-Sixty or 160. Letter tractor is the early model.

It’s an One-Sixty so it’s an early one.

May be able to find a parts tractor in your area. I found one in Ga that I got the 2nd set of hydraulic remote parts off of to add to my 160. Wanted 4 remotes to run our tedder. Just takes time and research to find.

That would be nice to have a parts source near by!! Is the transmissions the same on the early ones vs the later ones? Still not sure on the gear popping out problem so I’d would like to see it do it but it’s been too cold out to run it. The wiring is kinda concerning me with the cracks in the insulation, showing bare copper so I’m thinking on a new wiring harness if they are available. Sounds like towards the end of the week will be good weather so maybe I can dig in on it.

Pulled the shift tower off and not liking what I seen… Chipped gear teeth and a gallon of water in the bottom… Did get it to pop out of 6th gear down a hill while pulling back on the throttle.
Steve@B&B can fix me up with the wiring if I send the old one to him.

Wow, that’s what I call grinding gears!!! The result of shifting on the fly in a partial synchronized transmission.
