Hey fellas!

I recently put together a small video on 1940s farming. I think it's important to document the past, as these Stories really do mean something to America. It was a way of life back then. What a blessing to be with my grandpa and record the past from the guy who lived it! Hope you enjoy! If you haven't subscribed to my channel, please consider. I will have more videos coming out this year. God Bless!

P.S. I am always looking for Allis Brochures to do things like this and include them in videos. I love sharing the pictures from brochures for everyone to enjoy. If anyone does not need a few old brochures or wants to see them put to good use, drop me a line. Thanks!

My grandparents farmed a 100 acres mostly cattle and tobacco, but they raised about 10 acres of corn for grinding into feed.  They bought a new Allis CA with plow, cultivator and planter in the late 40's and ran it up to the 60's when they traded up to a Massey 165 to handle a baler.

That was very nice and well done. How fortunate you are to have a grand dad still living at that age and memory still remembering. Both my grandpa's were gone by age 9 for me. How I wish my Mom's Dad could have seen me in my career in my 20's. I feel a great deal of my talents came from him.

Don, thanks for doing this!  My father was born the same year as your Grandpa.  I can remember the early 60's when he and my uncle would cultivate corn and beans with 4-row front mounted cultivators on a WD and WD-45.  They would stop for lunch around noon, and would have to wait at least an hour for the engines to cool off before they could get them started again.
Please keep sharing your experiences!

Planning on it Brian, thanks for the memories!

I really enjoy sharing the family history, so thanks for the encouragement!

Also, if you can like and share the video, more people can enjoy this story and the youtube channel can grow.

Thanks guys!!

What a great story & project.  Thanks.  I'm a few years younger than you Grandpa but do remember a lot of those days in the 50's & 60's, the area I'm from in eastern NE was strictly 160-acre farms with an occasional 240 for a big farmer.  WC's & later WD's were the ideal size.  You're fortunate to have photos, we weren't a camera-ready family.  I can remember my Dad taking delivery of an early WD in 1948.  It was his baby and spent at least that first winter in the garage.  Thanks again.  Dennis J.
