I'm on the CT/RI line and this is going to hurt what's left of the small farms we have left.

CT has decided to basically triple taxes on land used for farming. I know for a fact this will put at least 2 dairy farms I know of out of business.

here is the link:

please pass this along to anyone that would be willing to help/sign. Basically, I see it as a land grab as the CT Democrats just passed a housing bill that will F over all the small towns, forcing development and I feel they are literally going to tax the land out of farmers hands.

Had a pretty good property tax hike here this year. It was announced early enough that they could "backpedal" and ONLY raise taxes about 10% rather than the initial 40%-50%.

We had a big hike in property values last year in Jackson County in order to stay in compliance with state department of revenue regulations but most of the governing agencies rolled the millage rates back so the increase in taxes was not too bad. In Georgia conservation use valuation agreements (CUVA) helps keep taxes down for farmers when developers are driving land prices up.

thanks guys

yea, the property valuations went up, but the mill rate was suppose to come down. that said, it won't matter if they decide that the property is valued at 4x land rate vs farm rate. even if it went up 4x at farm rate, it would kill off a few family farms.

I appreciate anyone who took time to fill it out

Local & County taxing authorities around the country are sensing the narrative of eliminating property taxes. These ‘revenuers’ are in a desperate race against time, before their thiefdoms come to a screeching halt.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.
