OK, trying to clean up the garage and found some big taps, got me thinking, pretty sure some here posted what size tap can be used for threading the exhaust manifold on a D-14 or maybe a B ?

I just hate to toss out these taps IF that can be used by someone.

Jay

update. finally found one of them, says 2" , 1 1/2 NPT. Has 2-3 missing teeth otherwise in VGC !

Not sure about a 14 but a D-17 takes a 1&1/2" pipe tap.

I don't scrap a tap until it's broken generally speaking. Don't tap enough holes to make one dull these days.

I bought a 1-1/4" pipe tap specifically for my Model C manifolds, works great!

keep them around.. those come in handy when working on OLD PLUMBING drains... also bilge pump - irrigation pumps suction and discharge ports.. old rusty  pump cases can be repaired..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Can a D12 III manifold be tapped? I haven’t had much luck with the original setup. The muffler stabs into the manifold and has two bolts that bolt thru a flange on the side (for lack of a better term) into the manifold. If it can be threaded and a pipe nipple screwed into it I could secure a muffler with a muffler clamp

I would think they could be. You would have to check the I.D. and see if it's close to tap-drill size. It might be interesting trying to cut threads into cast iron that has been heat cycled a zillion times.
