Bought a new Delta sink faucet cartridge this morning. Cost $42 . That's seems double what it should be
Wonder how much a new faucet is these days? Oh well

Did get a free one a few years back. Maybe I should have tried again?

Years ago back when the customer was always right at Wal Mart and there were no hassle guarantees, I took like 3 watches back to the local Wal Mart because the band kept breaking after 2 or 3 months and then the watch would fall off my arm and usually break- well anyway I took it back and finally they said I was breaking them and they refused to do anything about it. So I held onto it and one day I was going to another town quite aways away and I knew they had a Wal Mart. So I took the watch in there and told the girl that the watch band broke and then the watch fell and was broken. No question at all- she gave me another one like I had before and I wore it for like two years and it finally quit. I think I was getting all from the same batch locally and they were all bad.

Been a while since I ran a service truck but when Delta went to a cartridge faucet, the repair cost shot up quite bit. There’s only a couple models cheap enough to warrant replacing the whole faucet.

Think this is the third cartridge I've put in this faucet. First one was free. Sure don't remember the second one costing this much. Maybe the third one is the charm? Thanks guys

Is it a cartridge for a single handle faucet, Tub/shower or sink faucet? Ceramics are used alot and made the price shoot up . Tub shower faucets have to have pressure balance systems incorporated to prevent scalding. The government has made you safe but more expensive. If you are original purchaser most manufacturers will warranty. In 5 to 7 business days they will ship parts if you can tell them model and what part you need ,thanks .
Now that I read the original post I see it was a sink cartridge. The single handle one's use 2 ceramic disc's that slide against each other with holes that line up to let water through. This design works as it will take a long time to wear out . Problem is the seals around it fail. They tend not to drip out of the spout but leak around the handle stem when used.

Yeah it's a single lever kitchen sink faucet. Leaks from the spout when turned off from hot. Just have to move it to cold when you turn it off
Kinda annoying
Thanks

For a single lever faucet cartridge that price is not too bad these days. My bride wants to replace our double handle kitchen faucet with a single lever/pull down sprayer unit but my motto is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”  I already know who’s going to win on that.

So true.
When having a ‘discussion’ with the Wifey, when you lose, you lose,

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

It's a whole lot harder to get under the sink today than it was 16 years ago, just be careful.

Yeah, getting out from under the sink is a problem for me anymore.
