JW, When I retired, there was no exit interview. not sure if that was SOP, or if they were just in a rush to see me go! LOL How are things going? I spoke to my coworker a couple of weeks ago, he's not really happy. But then, he has some personal issues, so I'm not too sure if perhaps, one is causing the other.

With respect to the OP, I was told, but cannot verify, that when the GM engineers pointed out the problem with the 6.0 and 6.2 and possible solutions, the GM VP said she didn't care, they just needed to get them past the warranty, then it was the consumers problem.....or something to that effect. Maybe it was said, maybe not. Maybe taken out of context, maybe not. But knowing what little I DO know concerning the inner working of corporate America, it wouldn't surprise me to discover it to be true.
I will say, I blame part of the problem on the government forcing unrealistic milage and pollution standards on manufacturers

Could be several causes Lou. I've heard tell of maintenance people at Lockheed carrying empty paint buckets around until the handles rusted out. Seems a great reason to replace people to me

Listed 18hp, Two Cylinder, brake dyno at one show he had it at was 53hp. That is the Original cab, just has had minor work done to it.

as we all play and work with 60,70,80 year old tractors when a new one will be lucky to make it to the end of the warranty!
Nothing but truth in what he said!

It's obvious, the people in charge never owned a service based business or faced a customer. Heavy handed emphasis on showing up within 24 hrs and closing calls in 2 to 4 days based on type. The number one statement made by someone that has never run service is, "Just go out there and make a showing." Nothing like showing up, telling the customer, "Yep, it's broke, I'll order parts."
Problem I see across the board today, manufactures rush to get a new product out the door to keep up with competition, whether it works or not.
