Just wondering what company manufactured the 8000 series fiberglass hoods and what happened to the tooling they used to make them?

I don’t know a thing about carbon fiber, except for what you hear about it on race cars. they always say it’s lightweight and strong.

I would guess it was a small company located not too terrible far from Milwaukee. It wouldn't have made any sense having them made in California and ship them to Wisconsin.

Just an observation... my 82 8030's side panels are alot thinner that my 83 & 85 8070's. Assume they figured out they needed more meat.

There was a change, yes. Early hoods usually cracked on the left side (most used on/off) on the top lip about 16 inches ahead of the windshield. We replaced all we could while still under warranty.
