my dad and our new used 51WD

This is a picture of me, on the left and my Dad Douglas with our 51 WD. I was 14 years old when this photo was taken. I am now 82 years old. We were an Allis Chalmers family all the while we were Dairy farmers. The stable of AC’s included a 52 CA and several WD 45’s. My favorite WD 45 burned up at an AC dealer when it was taken in for repair. In todays world, that that tractor would have been restored because of its family heritage.  Among my collection I now have 4 WD45's some restored and some unrestored.  Thanks for looking.

Neat picture, I was 8 years old when my Dad took delivery of a new WD.  No photos but that thing had a spot in the garage for while, remember it well.

Love seeing the vintage photos, thanks for sharing yours. I wonder if the tractor had been repainted, or was this the original coat?

It was purchased from an Allis dealer in Merrill Wis.  and yes it was repainted, if I remember correctly it had a magneto.  I had just finished washing it up and cleaning the spring mud and snow off of it.

Daveingreenbay, That is an Awesome keepsake photo & memories. Thanks for sharing. What all did it pull / operate? Hay sickle? Corn chopper? Plow? Harrow? Planter?

Here’s a 2020 AC forum link about dealers in your Merrill WI area.

My dad bought his 1949 WD new from the dealer in Merrill also. The building is still there. I have the tractor now and it resides in the family farm building on the farm it was used since it was new. A picture of the tractor is on the Allis Connection Calendar.

Great picture!

Can you imagine how proud they were of their new "big" tractor? (They were probably a little nervous about the cost, too.)

In our area, a lot of farmers were transitioning from either a small tractor or horses in the early 50's. I'm betting it was an exciting time for farmers.
